Quezon police, military intercept suspected NPA child warrior

CAMP SANTOS, Calauag, Quezon – Police operatives of the Macalelon town station this province have accosted a 14-year old girl after the authorities spotted her and became suspicious of her actuations near their headquarters, in a police report on Wednesday.

The lawmen conducted their interrogation of the female teen who disclosed that she was under instruction from a ranking communist leader in Bondoc Peninsula to conduct surveillance and monitor the activities of the policemen in Macalelon.

The minor, whose name was withheld, was traced as a resident of Barangay Rosario in Lopez, Quezon and was later turned over by the police to the Lopez Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).

Colonel Elias H. Escarcha, commander of the 201st Infantry (Kabalikat) Brigade of the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division (2ID), Philippine Army has condemned the latest communist terrorists’ act in their continued exploitation of minors by using them as spies.

Escarcha said such act constitutes a clear violation of Republic Act No.7610 or the “Special Protection of Children against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.”

Police and military authorities who verified the teenager’s mobile phone revealed that she was also tasked to look for a possible site where the communist terrorists could set up an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Macalelon-General Luna highway.

Police and military operatives also disclosed that the girl was also frequently sighted casing the Lopez Police Station and the headquarters of the 3rdPlatoon, 405th Mobile Force Company in Barangay Bocboc, Lopez. (Pau Mojar/PNA)
