Rain or Shine trades Almazan to Meralco

MANILA — Rain Or Shine (ROS) made a huge shakeup to its lineup during the election season by letting go of Raymond Almazan.

In a trade approved on Tuesday, Almazan will head to Meralco for two future first round picks.

It was initially reported that the Elasto Painters have the luxury to choose the picks they will take from the Bolts within the next three drafts, and the former eventually went for the 2019 and the 2021 selections.

According to ROS governor Mert Mondragon, the trade stemmed from the rift involving Almazan and head coach Caloy Garcia.

Due to the said personal issue, Almazan went absent without leave last October only to return to the team just before the start of the season after patching some things up with Garcia.

The six-foot-seven center out of Letran was the third overall pick of the 2013 PBA Draft, selected after eventual top pick Greg Slaughter and second pick Ian Sangalang.
