Rain showers continue to prevail over parts of PH Tuesday

The weather bureau on Tuesday, May 23, said parts of the country will continue to get dampened with rain showers due to the southwesterly windflow affecting the western section of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

This will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, where flash floods or landslides are also possible due to moderate to at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the southwesterly windflow will also bring rains over the western part of the Visayas and Mindanao, as well as parts of Davao Region.

“It will be warm over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, but there’s a high chance of rain showers in the afternoon due to the southwesterly windflow and localized thunderstorms,” she said.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas continue to prevail across the archipelago.

Meanwhile, Typhoon “Mawar” was last tracked 2,300 kilometers east of the Visayas, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

“It has no direct effect on the country yet, and is forecast to enter PAR by Friday evening or Saturday,” Castañeda said.

The weather disturbance, she said, may head near extreme Northern Luzon, and may bring rains over a huge part of the country. – gb
