Rain showers expected on Sunday due to shear line, amihan

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the eastern section of Southern Luzon due to shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday (Dec. 12).

In its 5:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the weather bureau said the shear line will affect Calabarzon, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas regions, and the provinces of Marinduque and Romblon.

Cagayan Valley region and the provinces of Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province, and Aurora will experience cloudy skies with light rains, while Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the amihan or northeast monsoon.

Localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned residents living in affected areas against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds moving northeast will blow over Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao with moderate to rough coastal waters.

Light to moderate winds moving northeast will blow over Mindanao with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The minimum temperature is 22.4 °C while the maximum temperature is 31.7 °C. (PNA) – jlo
