Rain showers likely across Luzon, Visayas

MANILA – The northeast monsoon and shear line will cause rains across Luzon and the Visayas on Tuesday, Feb. 28, the weather bureau said.

The northeast monsoon will bring rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon. These areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Northeast monsoon will also cause light rains over the rest of Luzon, but no significant impact is expected according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line are forecast over the rest of the Visayas.

Mindanao will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms. PAGASA said flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the whole country will continue to experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

The northern, eastern, western and southern seaboards of Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of the Visayas and Mindanao will have rough to very rough seas.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves, PAGASA added. (PNA)
