Rains expected in southern Mindanao on Saturday

MANILA — Those in southern Mindanao should bring their umbrellas and raincoats until Saturday afternoon, as rains are expected in the area due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 4-p.m. weather bulletin on Friday, which is effective for 24 hours, PAGASA said Caraga, Davao region, Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), and Soccskargen would experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

It also cautioned of possible floodings or landslides due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in these areas.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country are also forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by local thunderstorms.

The easterlies, which are warm winds that also stir cloud formation, will also prevail over the entire country.

The northern and central Luzon seaboards will also have slight to moderate coastal waters due to light to moderate northeast winds.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will have slight to moderate coastal waters brought by light to moderate winds from the east to northeast. (PNA)
