MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts more rains in most part of the country on Friday due to the southwest monsoon.
PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said this covers southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Monsoon rains will prevail over Palawan, Mindoro, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) with cloudy skies and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours, according to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather bulletin.
The weather bureau warned of possible flooding and landslides caused by scattered rains or thunderstorms in these areas.
Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, and the rest of Mimaropa, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to the southwest monsoon.

Northern and central Luzon will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by local thunderstorms.

Rojas pointed out that PAGASA is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), which was last spotted 1,680 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon.
He explained the LPA will unlikely become a typhoon in the next few days and will move eastward further outside the PAR. It is not affecting any part of the country.
Moderate to occasionally rough seaboards are also forecast in the western sections of southern Luzon and Visayas.
Other areas will have slight to moderate coastal waters. However, there is no issued gale warning in any part of the country, allowing fisherfolk and those with small boats to head out to sea.
PAGASA sees a temperature range of 16-34 degrees Celsius until Tuesday.
