Rainy Monday as ‘Hanna’ enhances southwest monsoon

MANILA — While it is not likely to make landfall, tropical storm Hanna will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon bringing rains over most parts of Luzon and Visayas on Monday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Hanna was last spotted 940 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Hanna, moving north northwest at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), has maximum sustained winds of up to 75 kph near the center and gusts of up to 90 kph.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected over Cavite, Batangas and MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) due to the southwest monsoon.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Bicol, western Visayas and the rest of Calabarzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms also due to the southwest monsoon.

Cagayan Valley will have scattered rainshowers thunderstorms caused by the trough of Hanna. Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will have cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms

Metro Manila temperature ranges from 24-29 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 25-32 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 17-22 degrees Celsius; SBMA 23-29 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 24-28 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 24-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 23-33 degrees Celsius.
