ZAMBOANGA CITY–The Commission on Population (POPCOM) is holding Regional Population Management Congress (RPM Congress) on Wednesday, August 29, in this city.
Ralph Ruivivar, POPCOM assistant regional director, said the RPM Congress is part of the activity in the observance of the 2018 National Family Planning Month.
Ruivivar said the event will provide a venue for the discussion of issues and intended mechanisms relevant to promoting and broadening the reach of population management, as a means of improving the quality of lives of Filipino families.
Ruivivar said the RPM Congress also strives to solicit insights from policymakers, program planners and implementers, on how the regional population management program can be better re-engineered and find ways to bring family planning services closer to couples and individuals with unmet need.
This year’s RPM Congress is anchored on the theme “Ang Pamilyang Planado, Panalo!”
Ruivivar said the theme is a fitting reminder of the aspiration of many poor Filipino families to achieve the desired number and spacing of their children through better family planning access and services.
He hopes this year’s resource speakers can influence decision-makers and stakeholders towards improvement in population management program implementation in Zamboanga Peninsula. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr/PNA)
