Rehabilitation of Sta. Isabel bridge in Ilagan City, Isabela almost complete

Motorists in Ilagan City, Isabela can soon traverse the stronger and more durable Sta. Isabel Bridge along Ilagan-Delfin Albano-Mallig Road, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) enters final finishing works of the bridge undergoing rehabilitation.

The PhP23 million retrofitting project, which involves the use of carbon sheet and carbon plates in strengthening the 115 linear meter bridge, is expected to prevent the occurrence of road accidents in the area.

Currently at a completion rate of 85%, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the bridge is part of the Department’s proactive approach on resiliency and sustainability meant to promote structural integrity and safeguard the lives of the people.

“As a main roadway to the commercial hub and alternate gateway to the city’s neighboring municipalities, it is imperative that vital bridges such as the Sta. Isabel Bridge undergo rehabilitation,” Sec. Villar added.

Implemented by the DPWH Isabela First District Office and funded under the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the rehabilitation project started construction May 2019 and will be completed anytime this last quarter of 2019.
