ILOILO CITY — The 23 police officers who were relieved from their posts at the Anilao Municipal Police Station in Anilao, Iloilo started their 45-day training at the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) on Monday.

Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, PRO-6 Regional Director, met with the police officers at Camp Martin Delgado in this city and expressed dismay over what happened. While they were admonished, the seven police officers who were caught sleeping on the job were also ordered to perform push-ups.

Bulalacao said the police officers will undergo the Focused Reformation Orientation and Morale Enhancement (FORM) led by the Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division (RPHRDD).

“They will be refreshed on basic policing because we want them to remember what they learned when they started entering the PNP (Philippine National Police),” he said.

However, he clarified that he is not insulting these cops, but they just want to remind them of the things that they must do.

Bulalacao said he expects that they will be “reformed” after their training.

“Otherwise, if they will become recalcitrant, we will have the reason to fire them. Remember, the PNP leadership is serious in implementing organizational discipline and reforms and if they will be the one that will hinder this organization, they should be fired,” he said.

After the training, they will be assigned to Negros island, particularly in areas where there is the presence of New People’s Army.

Earlier, Bulalacao was prompted to relieve all the police officers assigned at Anilao, Iloilo because there was no duty sentinel on post.

Other officers were caught sleeping while on duty during a surprise inspection by Regional Director Joseph Celis of the National Police Commission in Western Visayas (Napolcom-6) early morning of December 6.

Bulalacao said an investigation is still ongoing against these cops.

“The result will come out soon and base on the findings, we will know the sanctions that we will be given to them,” he said.

Bulalacao recalled that he personally visited Anilao municipal police station in the previous months and told them to stick to their duties.

He was also there to inspect their office because they are still squatting at the municipal hall of Anilao.

Bulalacao reported that the local government unit of Anilao already donated a lot and they are now waiting for the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to release the fund for the construction of the building.
