Remulla aligns Cavite curfew hours with NCR’s

By Jenny Ortuoste

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla announced earlier today (Wednesday, April 14) that he is adjusting Cavite’s curfew hours to align with that of the rest of National Capital Region (NCR) Plus, from 8:00 pm. to 5:00 a.m.

NCR Plus covers Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

On April 11, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairperson Benhur Abalos declared that the Metro Manila Council had adopted curfew hours of 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. while NCR Plus is under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Writing on Facebook, Remulla listed other adjustments in line with the MECQ guidelines:

“Retail stores are allowed to operate at mall hours. [In a previous advisory, he said these are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.] Same mall rules continue.

“Puwede na ulit ang alfresco dining. Pero dahan-dahan lang ang paglabas dahil kung hindi naman kailangan ay sa bahay na lang kayo. [Al fresco dining is allowed again, but do not go out too much and if it’s not essential, just stay at home.]

“Religious activities are allowed at 10% capacity only. Kung may kasal, patay, o binyag? Umiwas sa kainan sabay kwentuhan. Diyan madalas kumakalat at naghahawahan. Kaya dehins muna ang mga iba’t ibang uri ng celebrations at group gatherings. [Is there a wedding, funeral, or baptism? Avoid celebrations that combine a meal and conversation. That’s often how the virus spreads and contagion happens. So celebrations and group gatherings are not allowed for now].”

The governor said that the positive effects of the two weeks of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) over NCR Plus in the first half of April are now being felt.

“Kahapon ay 180+ ang kaso. Mataas pa rin ito, pero mababa na sa peak na 1,884 cases 10 days ago [Yesterday, there were over 180 cases. It’s still high, but lower than the peak of 1,884 cases ten days ago.],” he disclosed.

He warned the public that no one is safe from COVID-19, and appealed to them, “mag-ingat ng todo. Kamakailan ay namatay ang isang mataas na opisyal ng COMELEC-Cavite. Siya ay 40 years old lamang. Sa Kapitolyo lang ay apat na ang namatay sa huling limang araw. [Take very good care. Just recently, a high-ranking official of COMELEC-Cavite died. He was only 40 years old. At the [provincial] Capitol, four have died in the past five days].”

“Walang bulletproof sa COVID. Kahit bata pa ay tinatamaan. Puno pa rin ang mga ospital at mahirap makapasok [No one is bulletproof against COVID. Even young people are getting infected. The hospitals are still full and it’s hard to get in.]…Stay home and stay safe.”
