Reporting lazy, corrupt gov’t personnel just ‘one text away’ with 8888 SMS service

Sending complaints regarding corrupt, negligent, and problematic government officials and projects is now easier with more access through free text service to Hotline 8888.

The new platform of the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center will “certainly give a boost to the good governance drive of the Duterte Administration,” according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

The format for complaints is C / Name (if you wish to be identified) / concerned government agency / complete details of the complaint.

For assistance requests, the format is A / type of request / concerned government agency / complete details of request.

Valid messages will be given a ticket reference number while requests sent via text may be followed up through calling 8888 and pressing 2. Roque said the complaints will go directly to heads of agencies.

“Kung mayroon naman talagang basehan at napatunayan nga na dahil sa tip ay nakahuli tayo ng kurakot, iyan po ang importante. Kinakailangan magpadala kayo ng inyong pangalan – hindi naman po iri-release iyan ng 8888 – just in case gusto ninyong makolekta ang reward (If the complaint has basis and once proven that the tip will lead to the capture of someone corrupt, that is what’s important. You need to send your name- which will not be released by 8888- just in case you want to collect the reward),” Roque stated. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
