Robredo shares hope via ‘Istorya ng Pag-asa’ drive

MANILA — Vice President Leni Robredo said that inspiration to go on with life despite hardships comes from knowing the success stories of other people who have undergone the same experience.

At the Istorya Ng Pag-asa photo gallery exhibit in Cebu City on Tuesday, Robredo said every Filipino can find hope in the inspiring stories of his or her fellowmen, saying such stories overflow in the different regions of the country.

“There is no shortage of inspiring stories. Kahit saan ka magpunta sobrang daming kwentong nakaka-inspire (Wherever you go, there are many stories you’ll find inspiring),” Robredo said.

She said that the Istorya ng Pag-asa campaign started in the latter part of 2016 when she noticed a lot of negativity on popular social networking site Facebook and other social media platforms.

Inspired by a group of young people focused on spreading positivity, Robredo composed a team tasked to look for inspiring stories nationwide.

In partnership with Ayala Foundation and Globe Telecommunications, Robredo’s team launched Istorya ng Pag-asa Short Film Festival on the first anniversary of the campaign in November 2017.

The festival showcased the stories of ordinary Filipinos who effect change through their simple deeds.

Robredo said they have started receiving entries for the short film festival since then. To date, they already have 80 entries, she said.

“Magkakaroon po ng (There will be an) Awards Night on June 12, Independence Day at the Globe Telecoms Theater. Ayala Malls will show their short films before the showing of their movies,” Robredo said. (PNA)
