MANILA — The Rookies-Sophomores ruled the PBA All-Star NXTGEN Challenge after beating the Juniors, 141-140, at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan province Friday night.

Javee Mocon tipped in CJ Perez’s missed jumper just before time expired, as the league’s incoming stars prevailed over the Gilas Cadets-loaded Juniors squad.

Perez put up 32 points en route to Most Valuable Player honors, while Mocon added 18.

Rashawn McCarthy dropped 24 markers for the Juniors.

In the side events, Rey Guevarra tied a league record after beating Renz Palma in the Slam Dunk Contest for his fifth title, while Beau Belga retained his Skills Challenge crown.

PJ Simon then showed that age doesn’t matter as he won the Three-Point Shootout.
