“Sabayang-patak” reaches Davao City

Hundreds of children aged 0 to 59 months old coming from Barangay 5-A and nearby villages in Davao City received the polio vaccine in line with the Department of Health’s “Sabayang-patak” Anti-polio Vaccination Program. Prior to the delivery of the vaccine to the residents, a simple opening ceremony was held to mark the commencement of the project in the area which will last until October 27, 2019. Said event was attended by the officials of the city, the DOH, United Nations Children’s Fund, and other concerned agencies. The health department said the program aims to immunize every child aged 0 to 59 months old in the region. It also guarantees the safety of the preemptive substance to the children.
Davao City was chosen as the situs of the vaccination because a water sample of the Davao River was found positive with the Polio Virus Type 2.
