San Beda opens Fr. Martin’s title defense vs. Mapua

A familiar foe awaits defending champion San Beda right at the very start of the Fr. Martin’s Cup Summer League on April 7.

The Red Lions will face National Collegiate Athletic Association rivals Mapua Cardinals in the opening game of the tournament at the SGS Gym in Quezon City at 8 a.m.

A four-game bill will open the said tourney, one of the premier pre-season cups in college basketball.

The other seniors’ game will pit Far Eastern University and Diliman College at 11 a.m.

Sandwiched by the two seniors’ games is a juniors’ clash between San Beda-Taytay and Adamson at 9:30 a.m.

The final game of opening day will have St. Patrick and Diliman Prep in the other juniors’ match-up at 12:30 p.m.

Action will shift to the San Beda Gym here on April 9 as San Beda will host another NCAA team in Perpetual Help at 11 a.m.

An all-NCAA Tuesday will actually take place as Arellano and Letran make their Fr. Martin’s debut at 9:30 a.m.

St. Patrick returns to play against Letran at 8 a.m, while Lyceum battles La Consolacion at 12:30 p.m. in the juniors’ division.

La Salle and AMA open their own campaign each other in the lone seniors’ action on April 10 at 8 a.m. back at the SGS Gym, preceding the juniors doubleheader which has San Sebastian battling AMA at 9:30 a.m. and University of Santo Tomas taking on San Beda Senior High School at 11 a.m.

San Beda Senior High will then host Treston in the lone high school match-up on April 12 back at the San Beda Gym at 9:30 a.m., right after Treston’s college team battles Mapua at 8 a.m.

In the final day of opening week on April 13, University of the Philippines opens its own campaign against La Salle at 8 a.m. also at the San Beda Gym.

The main game at 12:30 p.m. will have Diliman College taking on Letran.

In the juniors, UST and FEU-FERN will collide at 9:30 a.m., while Arellano and La Consolacion will slug it out at 11 a.m.
