San Juan begins indigent population vaccination

San Juan City began vaccinating today (June 15) individuals under Priority Group A5 or indigent population, following the arrival of 5,850 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines from the COVAX Facility.

The newly delivered donated doses from COVAX will only cover Priority Groups A1, A2, A3, and A5 based on its guidelines.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said around 15,000 individuals under the A5 category have pre-registered in the city. A certificate of indigency is required to secure a slot.

As of June 15, more than 40,000 have been vaccinated in the city, or 47% of its target population.

“Kaya kong sabihin na habang dumadami ang nababakunahan dito sa San Juan, lalong bumababa ang bilang ng mga kaso natin sapagkat ngayon ay 82 active cases na lang tayo coming from a high of 1, 296 noong April 12,” Zamora said.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 vaccination continues in Quezon City after it received additional 285,000 doses. However, its online registration platform eZConsult experienced heavy traffic due to the number of registrants.

The local government said more than 26,000 slots were booked through the platform within 12 hours.

In Manila, 2,500 doses each were allocated to four vaccination sites dedicated for Priority Groups A2 and A4. – Report from Patrick de Jesus/AG-rir
