San Juan City to launch 3rd vax site

The local government of San Juan will formally launch its third vaccination center on Monday (July 19), 9:00 a.m., to increase its vaccination capacity. The third site is at the third floor events place of VMall in Greenhills Mall.

Mayor Francis Zamora will visit the site and conduct an ocular inspection along with city officials.

The new site can accommodate 1,000 vaccinees every day and will increase the city’s daily vaccination rate to 5,000 jabs, including jabs done at FilOil Flying V Centre and Theatre Mall Cinemas 1 and 2.

“We want to follow through with the commitment we made with [Health] Sec. [Francisco] Duque [III] and [testing czar] Sec. [Vince] Dizon that we will achieve the 100% second dose of our target by the end of August, and this is one of the strategies we’re implementing to accomplish that,” Zamora said.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) headed by Duque, Dizon, Trade Sec. Ramon Lopez, and Presidential Spokesperson Sec. Harry Roque visited San Juan City last July 12 and announced that the city has already vaccinated more than 70% of its entire population with their first dose.

After the inspection at the VMall Vaccination Center, Zamora will bike around the city from the Greenhills Loop to Brgy. Corazon de Jesus for “Bisikleta Para sa Bakuna.” He will also conduct another round of house-to-house campaigning and registration to further increase vaccine awareness and acceptance.

“Our vaccine registration numbers are already high, but our objective is to vaccinate every San Juaneño who qualifies based on age, IATF prioritization, and health status. So we will keep on encouraging them, [and] at the same time educat[ing] them, regarding the truths about the vaccine,” the mayor said.

As of July 12, the city has already inoculated 105,410 individuals or 122.40% of its target population with their first dose, based on the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) 2021 population projection, or 113.52% based on the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) 2021 population projection.

On the other hand, 39,558 San Juaneños have received their second dose, or 45.93% of the city’s target population based on PSA’s numbers, or 42.6% based on ADB’s. (San Juan LGU) – jlo
