SAP Go gives promised livelihood aid to fire victims

MANILA — Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Sunday went back to visit the victims of the recent fire that hit Muntinlupa, to deliver his promise of extending assistance to the fire victims.

Among those who received assistance from the presidential top aide was Jaime Rigorgo, who lost his 20 pigs in the fire.

“When I visited Muntinlupa two weeks ago, I met Mang Jaime, he was lonely, his hands were burned in the fire. When I asked him why he was sad, he said his 20 pigs got roasted in the fire,” Go narrated.

“I told him, Mang Jaime, don’t worry, the important thing is you’re alive. Let them go. I will just give you (livelihood),” he said in Filipino.

During his second visit to the area, President Rodrigo Duterte’s top aide handed over a sow and a boar to Mang Jaime, which he said could be raised and bred as livestock.

“(The)thing is, I can’t afford those 20 pigs. I told him I’ll find a sow and a boar. I have a friend from Tarlac who gave the sow, and I bought a boar, it was quite expensive though. But I know Mang Jaime will take good care of them,” Go said.

Jaime, who was teary-eyed, thanked the presidential assistant for extending support to fire victims like him.

“I will take good care of the pigs given to me. The pigs I own usually bathe three to four times a day, so no problem. You know, I just prayed to God that he would give someone to help me, and here he is” he said in Filipino.

“Thank you, Bong Go, you were the first blessing who came,” he added.

Last June 6, Go represented the Chief Executive in personally handing over relief packages and cash assistance to families left homeless due to separate fires at Brgy. 741 Zone 80 Paco, Manila and at Espeleta Pantalan St., Brgy. Poblacion, Muntinlupa.

In his visit, Go again assured the affected families that the doors of the Office of the President are open for any assistance requests. (PNA)
