SC suspends work Tuesday noon due to bad weather

MANILA — Acting Chief Justice and Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio announced the suspension of work in Supreme Court (SC) effective Tuesday noon due to inclement weather.

“In view of the continuous rains and flooding in areas leading to the Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio has suspended work for Supreme Court personnel starting 12 nn today, 17 July 2018,” the SC Public Information Office said in its Twitter post.

However, the regular SC en banc session, which is done on Tuesdays, shall push through starting 10 a.m.

Carpio, meanwhile, said suspension of work in the Court of Appeals, Court of Tax Appeals, Sandiganbayan and trial courts in other areas is upon the discretion of executive judges and presiding judges.

“Discretion is given to Presiding Justices of the third level courts and Executive Judges of trial court in Metro Manila and other affected areas to suspend work, considering specific circumstances in their localities,” the announcement read.

Weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the southwest monsoon would dump rains over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas.

Residents in these areas are advised to watch out for possible landslides or flooding. Sea travel is risky for small seacrafts over western seaboard of southern Luzon. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
