SC to lawyers: Filing of petitions, documents until 4:30 p.m. only

By Benjamin Pulta/Philippine News Agency

MANILA — The Supreme Court (SC) reminded litigants and lawyers of the official time for accepting petitions, pleadings, and official documents.

In a two-page minute resolution issued Friday, the Court said “the deadline for acceptance of petitions, pleadings, original records of judicial cases and other official documents by the Judicial Records Office (JRO) Docket-Receiving Section shall be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the official business hours of the Court.”

The 4:30 p.m. deadline for receiving documents by the JRO, which is under the Office of the Clerk of Court, may only be “subject to extension of not later than 5 p.m. in the interest of justice, when instructed by the Members of this Court, through the Office of the Chief Justice, or by the Clerk of Court.”

It added that this is without prejudice to the discretion of the Chief Justice to further extend the deadline for filing of important pleadings in “very urgent circumstances.”
