SC welcomes DOJ’s offer in eradicating anomalies in judiciary

The Supreme Court welcomes the offer of Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra to help the judiciary against anomalies.

“Any assistance for the good of the institution and to protect its integrity should not be shunned, but instead welcomed,” responded SC Spokesperson Atty. Brian Hosaka to the statement of Sec. Guevarra that the DOJ is prepared to coordinate with the judiciary once it needs assistance in fighting against irregularities within its ranks.

The DOJ Chief has also disclosed that the judiciary has its own system of investigating irregularities, “in fact, weeding out misfits in the Judiciary is a priority of Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta and is included in his 10-point program for the Judiciary which he bared a year ago upon his assumption as Chief Justice.”

He added that the Supreme Court has formed a Judiciary Integrity Board (JIB) and Corruption Prevention and Investigation Office (CPIO) that have the mandate to investigate complaints against corrupt judges, officials, and judiciary employees. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
