Scattered rain showers continue due to ‘Queenie’

MANILA – Some parts of the country will continue to experience scattered rain showers on Thursday due to the trough of typhoon “Queenie”, the weather bureau said.

“Queenie” was last eyed 745 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, heading northwest at 15 km per hour. It has maximum sustained winds of 165 km/h near the center, and gustiness of up to 205 km/h.

Cagayan Valley Region, central and eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, northern Mindanao, and Caraga will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Meanwhile, strong to gale force winds will blow over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon, eastern Visayas. Coastal waters along these areas will be rough to very rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be moderate to strong with moderate to rough seas, PAGASA added. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
