Scattered rains over parts of PH on Easter Sunday

MANILA — The trough of severe tropical storm “Jelawat” affecting eastern Visayas, and the northeasterly surface wind flow affecting Luzon, will cause scattered rains over parts of the archipelago, state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.

“Jelawat” was last eyed at 2,265 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora and Quezon due to northeasterly surface wind flow.

Samar will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of “Jelawat”.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms, according to PAGASA.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds will prevail over northern Luzon and the eastern part of central and southern Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
