DAVAO CITY — The Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) will conclude on Saturday its five-day sea exercise focused on enhancing skills on emergency preparedness and maritime security of some 300 naval reservists.

The naval exercise, which kicked-off in General Santos City on Tuesday, is the first its kind that NFEM has organized, said Navy Ensign Aileen Jansor, outgoing spokesperson of NFEM.

Jansor said the activity is also participated in by members of the Philippine Marines and Naval Special Operations Unit (NSOU).

She said NFEM has also “participated in (the) Philippine-Indonesia coordinated border patrol that is spearheaded by the Eastern Mindanao Command.”

The activity will conclude with the actual exercise in sea and amphibious operations after a series of lectures.

“If we already know that the reservist is already well-prepared, we will incorporate them through the conduct of sea exercises on the part of sailors, while we have also marines for the conduct of amphibious operations together with their counterpart in reservist, the marine reserve force,” she said.

Jansor said the closing ceremony will be held aboard the Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Tarlac or LV-601 to be attended by the flag officer in command Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad, the flag officer in command of the Philippine Navy.
