Sea travel in Batangas resumes Nov. 2

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City – All sea trips from the Batangas Port to destinations in Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan resumed as early as 1 a.m. Thursday.

The Philippine Coast Guard – Southern Tagalog (PCG-STL) and Batangas Port authorities said the trips were resumed after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued its 24-hour public weather forecast at 4 a.m. Thursday, stating that Tropical Depression Ramil was already 210 km. west of Coron, Palawan at 3 a.m., with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.

Coast guard and port authorities said that no passenger was stranded in the port as of reporting time and that they would ensure that vessels would not be overloaded with Undas travelers.

In another development, motorists bound for Lemery, Batangas were advised to take the Tagaytay City-Nasugbu road as the Diokno Highway (K0072+560) remained closed to vehicular traffic since the highway’s slope protection, which collapsed at the height of Typhoon Nona in 2015, is still being restored.
