Search for 10 Most Outstanding Ilocano Youth is on

LAOAG CITY — The National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL) Ilocos Norte Chapter is looking for nominees for this year’s search for the 10 Most Outstanding Youth in the province.

According to Laoag Councilor Handy Lao, the NMYL office is now accepting nominees for the award in time for the second anniversary celebration of NMYL in the province.

“As a way of empowering the youth, we at the NMYL Ilocos Norte plans to recognize outstanding Ilocano youth, who excel in their various fields of specialization,” Lao said, as the search is open to all young Ilocanos, including out-of-school youth and persons with disabilities.

Lao said a committee will be formed to assess and evaluate the nominees, based on a set of criteria duly approved by the body.

Through a fund raising project, the NMYL is also sponsoring several students in the primary and secondary levels to provide as financial aid for education.

Lao added talks are also underway with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for the provision of skills training, particularly among the out-of-school youth, to make them more productive. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
