Sec. Galvez assures quality PPEs for frontline workers

The government emphasized it would not allow the distribution of substandard personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers.

National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. assured they directly coordinate with manufacturers, following the reported sale of fake PPEs from Korea.

“Wala po tayong kinuha sa South Korea. Ang ano po natin, doon po kaagad diretso sa manufacturer ng China at ito po’y mga level 4 at saka tinest, evaluate natin ito (We did not get any [PPE] from South Korea. Ours is direct from a manufacturer in China and are at level 4, and have been tested, evaluated),” Galvez disclosed.

“Sa ngayon po more or less mga 3 million na po ang ating napa-distribute, 1 million po ‘yung ating na-procure na 1.8 billion. At saka more or less ‘yung tulong ng ating private sector at LGUs, more or less mga 2 million (For now, more or less 3 million [PPEs] have been distributed, 1 million [PPEs] were procured out of the 1.8 billion. From the contribution of private sectors and LGUs, more or less 2 million),” Galvez added.

The country has been aiming to buy 11 million PPEs for frontline workers. It is also bent on testing one to two percent of the population in August.
