Para swimmer Ernie Agat Gawilan of Team Philippines successfully defended his second ASEAN Para Games Swimming crown following a scintillating performance this morning in the  men’s 200-meter Individual medley (IM) event at National Aquatice Center, Bukit Jalil Sports City in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

The 26-year old PH tanker finished the race in 2-minutes and 50.13 seconds to edge Malaysia’s Tien Yu James Wong by less than a second. Vietnam’s Dang Van Cong settled for bronze.

It was Gawilan’s second gold in the Kuala Lumpur Para Games after also successfully defending his title in the men’s 400m freestyle S8 event last Wednesday.

The Davao City Para swimming sensation thus exceeded his Singapore Para Games tally of two gold medals after giving the Philippines a silver in the 100M men’s individual butterfly S8 event and also helping the team to get two bronze medals in 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay.
