Second round of Bayanihan Bakunahan sees good turnout on first day

The National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) witnessed a great turnout of people seeking vaccination on Wednesday, the start of the second round of the three-day Bayanihan Bakunahan that will run until Dec. 17.

“Based on initial reports, maganda naman iyong turnout. Maraming senior citizens na kasama ko ang nagpapa-booster. Mas naga-accommodate sila ng walk-in. Ang ating problema ay itong bagyo,” NVOC Chairperson Myrna Cabotaje said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“We are confident that we will reach the seven million target. Hindi na tayo magde-daily target.”

Cabotaje also said that the National Capital Region’s target is to administer as many booster shots as possible to achieve the 54 million goal of fully-vaccinated individuals.

“Ang target natin ay maabot sana natin iyong 54 million na ating mga fully vaccinated. Sa ngayon, nasa 42 million tayong fully vaccinated. So, ibig sabihin mga 12 million pa ang hahabulin natin,” she explained.

Meanwhile, there have been proposals from local government units for a third round of Bayanihan Bakunahan.

“Iyong round three, iyon ay may proposals na every month parang mayroong ganitong campaign mode para mas mapaigting pa in addition to the regular daily vaccination,” Cabotaje quipped. – bny
