SORSOGON CITY — Riding on a political bandwagon dubbed as “Sorsogon First”, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, who is eyeing the gubernatorial post of the province, on Friday unveiled his three-point political platform on good governance, agriculture and health.

Escudero, in an interview said, “this run is about giving back to my roots, to my province”.

He laid down his platform focused on: clean and honest governance, health and social development and tourism and sports development programs.

Escudero, an incumbent senator whose term is expiring next year, is running for governor under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

“People have asked me why I am running for governor when I already served three terms as a congressman and two terms as senator. I told them that’s precisely the reason why I am running for governor. I want to share with you what I have learned all these years in politics, economy, culture and good governance so together we can propel Sorsogon to progress,” Escudero declared.

When asked if the transition from a lawmaker at the national level to a local chief executive would somehow affect his work practice, he admitted that the transition is a bit of a “culture shock” to him but said he can easily adjust to a different work environment.

The Bicol solon said he would also focus on investing and introducing new projects that would bolster agriculture by introducing the corporate farming system.

He said he will give emphasis to rice, vegetable, pili and poultry production.

“We will maintain our status as the ‘Pili capital of the country’,” Escudero said. (Mar Serrano/PNA)
