As he continues to urge the public to take part in the national vaccination program, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go remains committed to helping pandemic-hit communities build back better.
In a video message during his team’s relief operation in Kalilangan, Bukidnon on Friday, Dec. 10, Go appealed to eligible residents to get inoculated as soon as they are scheduled to do so.
As Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go expressed his optimism that ‘there is light at the end of the tunnel’ if Filipinos remain disciplined and compliant with the mandated health and safety measures against COVID-19.
“Magtulungan lang tayo. Sino lang ba ang magtutulungan kung ‘di kapwa nating Pilipino. Kung nasa priority list na kayo, pakiusap lang magpabakuna na kayo. Ang bakuna ang susi o solusyon para unti-unti tayong makabalik sa normal nating pamumuhay gaya noon. Pakiusap lang namin, disiplina at kooperasyon lang,” Go said.
The relief operation was organized at the municipal gymnasium, where Go’s staff grouped the 500 beneficiaries into smaller batches and handed out masks and snacks. The team also gave bicycles, computer tablets, and new pairs of shoes to select residents.
In addition, the Department of Social Welfare and Development gave financial assistance and food packs to the residents while the Department of Trade and Industry evaluated potential beneficiaries for its Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa program.
Go also advised residents, particularly those with health concerns, to visit the Malasakit Center at Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Maramag where they may conveniently avail of government medical assistance.
Committed to improving access to quality healthcare, Go principally authored and sponsored the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 which mandates all hospitals managed and administered by the Department of Health and the Philippine General Hospital to establish their Malasakit Centers to help particularly poor and indigent patients reduce their medical expenses.
“Ang Malasakit Center po ay para sa mga poor and indigent patients. Tutulungan ho kayo ng Malasakit Center at wala pong pinipiling pasyente ang Malasakit Center. Ang Malasakit Center ay para po sa Pilipino,” Go assured.
To uplift the living conditions and improve public service delivery in the province, Go as the Vice Chair of Senate Committee on Finance has also supported the construction of several flood control structures in Kalilangan and the development projects of the Southern Bukidnon Agri-Industrial Economic Zone Road Network and the Northern Bukidnon Agri-Industrial Economic Zone Road Network in Maramag and Don Carlos, respectively.
Other initiatives he supported include the construction of local roads in Kadingilan; the installation of street lighting facilities in Maramag; and the construction and rehabilitation of slaughterhouses and multipurpose buildings in Don Carlos and Quezon towns.
Finally, he was instrumental in the improvement of roads in the province such as the road links in Baungon, Libona, and Talakag, the access road leading to the Bukidnon Airport, and farm-to-market and local roads in Kibawe, Kitaotao, Lantapan, San Fernando, Talakag and Valencia City.
Go previously sent his outreach team to conduct similar relief efforts in the towns of Cabanglasan, Impasug-ong, and Quezon. (PR) – bny
