Senate pushing for Department of Disaster Resilience

Some senators advocate the establishment of the Department of Disaster Resilience. The proposed government office will focus on pre-disaster assessment and post-disaster response. Senator Imee Marcos justified the same, claiming that the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council finds difficulty in responding to calamities due to the disaligned skills of its leaders. Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri defended the move by informing that there are already eight senators adhering to the establishment of said government arm.
