Senators condemn killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid

Senators condemned the killing of radio broadcaster Percy Lapid on Monday, Oct. 3.

Senator Robin Padilla expressed his sympathy to the bereaved family of Lapid, and said that his killing is an example of press freedom suppression.

Senator Risa Hontiveros also expressed her dismay on the “brazen attack on press freedom.”

“Sir Percy was a strong dissenting voice that made sure government officials did not become too comfortable with power,” she said.

She said they will “never tolerate a society that is afraid of the truth,” and that they will continue to fight for justice and truth for the future generation.
