Sinas: Nuezca is dismissed from service

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Debold Sinas disclosed Monday the dismissal from the service of Police Staff Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, the cop caught on video fatally shooting 2 of his neighbors in the province of Tarlac.

The decision was based on the recommendation of the PNP Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) that conducted an administrative investigation on Nuezca. The latter did not receive his pay since his status was on leave of absence while his administrative case was being heard.

“The subject NCO was charged for two counts of grave misconduct and 2 counts of conduct unbecoming of a police officer.”

The dismissal order is effective Monday. Due to the order served against Nuezca, he will not receive any benefits from the PNP.

The criminal case against the former policeman is also currently rolling. The PNP stated that it is prepared to present additional evidences in court if needed.

“Kung anong kailangan nila sa amin, ipipresent po namin. Hindi na po kami mag-offer ng kung anong ebidensya kasi lahat ng ebidensya na forward na po namin (Whatever they need from us, we will present it. We will not offer any more evidences since we have forwarded them all),” Sinas disclosed. – Report from Bea Bernardo
