MANILA — Singapore-based digital solutions firm Tagit is eyeing a partnership with the Philippine government and make the country its regional hub.
Tagit provides software to customers offering different services. Most of its customers are banks as it provides technology for e-commerce.
“In Singapore, we have already partnered with the government for several projects. In Singapore, a lot of government (agencies) are offering e-services because one can do many things on mobile that you can’t do on the internet (e.g. Geolocation),” Sandeep Bagaria, Tagit Philippines, Inc. chief executive officer, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) in an interview over the weekend.
“Initial stage in partnering with the Philippine government is looking at how can we help,” he said.
Tagit is currently talking to the Bangko Sentra ng Pilipinas (BSP) for a possible partnership, since BSP is apparently targeting to digitize 20 percent of Philippine transactions by 2020.
Tagit already had a sales office in the Philippines since 2015. Since then, the Philippine National Bank (PNB), China Bank, and Union Bank of the Philippines became its clients.
“We build apps focused on innovation and user experience,” the technology firm CEO said.
Bagaria added there’s a huge potential for banks to go digital, since many Filipinos use smartphones and embraced digital banking.
“We have introduced selfie banking here in the Philippines, through the Union Bank,” he noted.
Selfie banking enables customers to log into their accounts by taking a selfie on a mobile app. This app has a face recognition technology and has an authentification process to protect the customers.
Bagaria said one can trust that Tagit’s software or digital solutions are safe, since it has been in the business for more than 10 years.
Meanwhile, he also shared that Tagit plans to make the Philippines its regional hub.
“We have offices in Singapore and India. But we target to have the core delivery hub here,” he disclosed to the PNA.
“We find a lot of good talents here. We will hire engineering talents. We might also get some talents from the universities (here),” Bagaria continued.
