The vaccine rollout for the single-shot Janssen COVID-19 vaccine of Johnson & Johnson began today (July 21) in some local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila.
Some 2,800 doses of the vaccine were allotted to the San Juan local government. Some 600 individuals from the A2 and A3 priority groups received the single-shot vaccine today.
According to San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, because the vaccine only needs to be administered once, it is a big relief for vaccinees and health workers as it saves both time and effort.
At least 18,000 Janssen vaccine doses were deployed to Manila City, and 10,300 doses to Caloocan City. Both LGUs said these vaccine doses were allotted for the vaccination of senior citizens.
The first batch of 1,606,600 single-shot Janssen COVID-19 vaccine doses donated by the United States government arrived in the country on July 16, while an additional 1,606,600 doses of the American-manufactured vaccine arrived the next day (July 17).
