Single ticketing system OK’d

Mayors in the National Capital Region (NCR) approved on Wednesday, Feb. 1, the implementation of the single ticketing system for a more effective transport and traffic management in the region.

Citing Resolution No. 23-02, the MMDA said the system that was adopted through the Metro Manila Traffic Code of 2023 “will harmonize the existing national and local laws on traffic enforcement.”

The MMDA said this will also help address challenges in apprehension, fines, license and plates apprehension, and the confusing uncoordinated implementation of traffic laws though standardized fines and connectivity.

“This is a historic moment for all of us because after more than twenty years, Metro Manila is finally adopting the single ticketing system that will highly benefit our motorists,” MMDA Acting Chairman Romando Artes said.

“The single ticketing system would help avoid confusion among our driving public, as well as [the] option to pay electronically for their violations. Driver’s license will also not be confiscated during apprehension,” he added.

The new system is set to take effect within the first quarter of the year, with Metro Manila local government units passing ordinances for the system’s adoption before March 15.

Here are the most common traffic violations that will be uniformly penalized by the new system, based on the Metro Manila Traffic Code approved on Jan. 19:

Illegal parking (attended and unattended)
Number coding UVVRP
Truck ban
Light truck ban

Unregistered motor vehicle

Defective motorcycle accessories
Unauthorized modification
Arrogance/Discourteous conduct (driver)
