Six Manila barangays to undergo lockdown

Six more barangays in the City of Manila will be placed under localized lockdown due to the increasing number of reported COVID-19 cases starting Wednesday, March 17.

The lockdown within the week will cover Barangays 185, 374, 521, 628, 675, and 847 for having more than 10 recorded cases of COVID-19, according to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

The Manila Public Information Office update that Barangay 185 has 11 active cases, Barangays 374, 628 and 847 with 10 each, Barangay 521 with 12, and Barangay 675 with 22 active cases.

Authorized persons outside of residence (APOR), including medical workers, are exempted from the lockdown. Violators will be apprehended and fined.

The lockdown will last until March 20 while intensified contact tracing and testing are conducted in the city.

Three barangays and several hotel establishments in Manila were earlier placed under strict quarantine on March 11 due to the spike in cases. As of March 15 noon, the city has 1,673 active cases, 28,686 recoveries, and 831 deaths.
