SK Federation election completed in Iloilo towns, city

ILOILO CITY — The conduct of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation elections in Iloilo’s 42 municipalities and one component city was completed on Tuesday, said the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) here.

“It was peaceful and went smoothly,” Teodora Sumagaysay, provincial director of DILG-Iloilo, said in a media interview.
Sumagaysay said the elected presidents of the SK town federations will gather for the election of the SK provincial federation at the Iloilo Grand Hotel here on June 12-13.

The first day will be for an orientation while the second day will be election day.

Just like the conduct of the election at the municipal level, Sumagaysay said the nomination of the president for the SK provincial federation will be held on the day of election.

An election committee will be created to facilitate the conduct of the election, composed of a chairman and its two members, she said.

These members of the poll committee will no longer be eligible to run in the forthcoming election, Sumagaysay said.

The nomination coming from the floor will then be open to anybody.

Recently, the elected chairman and councilors of SK in the different villages in the entire province underwent mandatory training and orientation in their respective towns. (Cindy Ferrer/PNA)
