SLEx traffic congestion persists despite one-way scheme

Motorists traversing the the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Muntinlupa are still left bewildered by the one-way traffic policy enforced on its East Service Road, two days after its implementation. The confusion has resulted in traffic jam comprising of perplexed commuters, and drivers of private and public utility vehicles alike. This scheme has been implemented to address the worsening congestion on SLEX caused by the ongoing skyway extension project.

The Skyway O&M Corporation has announced that on Monday, 14 October 2019, truck window hours system will be enforced on SLEX and Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway. Window hours are at 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 9:30 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. for SLEX while it is 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M. for STAR. This, however, covers only trucks traveling to Manila via Alabang. Southbound trucks are not included except for tankers loaded with fuel, trucks with perishable goods or agricultural products and cargo trucks with permits. The Skyway O&M Corporation appeals to the riding and driving public for more patience as the construction will eventually benefit everybody. The project is expected to be finished earlier than the target date towards the end of 2020.
