COTABATO CITY – The chief of Police Regional Office 12 (Soccsksargen) has awarded medals and distributed financial aid to two cops separately injured in the performance of their duties in North Cotabato province.

Chief Supt. Eliseo Tam Rasco, PRO-12 director, pinned on Friday the “Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting” (PNP Wounded Personnel Medal) and handed over a financial assistance to PO2 Jogie Tamay, a member of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, in a hospital in Kidapawan City where he is confined.

Tamay was hurt when a wanted man resisted arrest and fired at the police during the serving of search warrants in Barangay Kilada, Matalam, North Cotabato last October 16.

Also given the same recognition and financial aid was PO2 Joiue Quicoy during simple rites held at the North Cotabato Provincial Police Office covered court in Amas, Kidapawan City.

Quicoy, a member of the Cotabato Provincial Mobile Force Company, was recently discharged from hospital after fully recovering from the wound he sustained during an operation against a drug suspect in Barangay Manubuan, also in Matalam, last October 12.

Rasco said he hopes the award would boost the morale of the wounded cops in fighting crimes.

“They deserve the highest praise for the bravery they have shown during the separate law enforcement operations,” he said. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
