Some poll winners may be announced week after May 9

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) may announce the winners of the senatorial and party-list race a week after the May 9 elections.

According to Comelec Commissioner George Garcia, the canvassing of the results for senators and partylists may be finalized on May 15.

The Comelec en banc will serve as the National Board of Canvassers.

Meanwhile, Garcia assured that the results for the local elections will be finalized once voting closes.

Garcia said the winners for mayor and vice mayor positions can be announced as early as May 9, while the winners for congressman, governor, vice governor, and provincial councilors will be announced on May 10. —Report from Lorenz Tanjoco (Radyo Pilipinas)/ KC-ag
