Southwest monsoon to bring rains over Luzon Saturday

MANILA — The southwest monsoon affecting the western section of Luzon will bring rains over the island on Saturday, the weather bureau said.

Monsoon rains will prevail over the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Zambales, and Bataan.

Metro Manila, the rest of central Luzon and of Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon and Mindoro will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, strong to gale winds will blow over northern and central Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be rough to very rough.

Winds will be moderate to strong over the rest of Luzon, with moderate to rough seas.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
