Southwest monsoon continues to affect Luzon: PAGASA

MANILA—Heavy rainfall will prevail Thursday until the weekend as the southwest monsoon (habagat) persistently affects Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its 24-hour weather forecast, the state weather bureau said cloudy skies with occasional rains will prevail over the western section of Luzon and Visayas while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

The southwest monsoon will bring light to moderate rains in Metro Manila, regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, provinces of Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Cavite, Batangas, Bataan and Zambales.

Mimaropa, the rest of Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Calabarzon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.

Bicol region, Visayas and Mindanao will be partly cloudy with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Coastal waters in the western section of northern and central Luzon and the northern and eastern section of northern Luzon will be rough to very rough. Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised against going out into the sea.
