SSS-Davao rolls out ‘Sulit sa SSS’ campaign

DAVAO CITY — The Social Security System (SSS) will be rolling out its two-day Sulit sa SSS campaign on July 16 and 17 that aims to raise awareness of the members on the importance of the social security and its benefits.

In partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the SSS will hold a series of the multi-sectoral forum with all stakeholders to strengthen appreciation of the value of continuing membership and contribution as a pre-requisite to higher and better benefits.

Greta Fe Quayle, the account officer and Public Information Officer of SSS-Davao, said more or less 300 stakeholders are expected to attend the forum on Tuesday at the Grand Men Seng Hotel. The participants are Overseas Filipino Workers, employers, self-employed and the local government units.

SSS will also hold a school tour targeting future members — the senior high school and college students, who can be encouraged to allocate a portion of their allowance or compensation (for working students) for SSS contribution. The campus tour will be led by SSS Senior Vice President Catherine Ciriaco while SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc will hold a dialogue with the business sector.

Siarina Piatos, assistant branch head of SSS-Davao, added that SSS is both savings and insurance.

Among the package of benefits are the senior citizens’ pension, sickness, disability, maternity, retirements, death and funeral.

SSS is strengthening its campaign to encourage earners to set aside a portion of their compensation for SSS contribution.

It is also running after delinquents through its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) to raise awareness among employers and members.

RACE is designed to instill awareness of employer obligation, exact employer compliance, and to facilitate apprehension and filing of cases against non-compliant and delinquent employers. (Lilian Mellejor/PNA)
