Standhardinger leads PBA Best Player stats race

MANILA — With Junemar Fajardo sitting out for most of the PBA Governors’ Cup eliminations, Chris Standhardinger stood out on his behalf.

The first overall pick of last year’s draft stepped up for San Miguel, and his brilliant performance put him on track for taking the Best Player of the Conference plum for the season-ending conference.

The six-foot-eight forward averaged 43.1 statistical points (SPs) after the preliminary round, way ahead of closest competitor Japeth Aguilar of Ginebra, which had 34.8.

Standhardinger averaged a league-best 23.3 points and 13.6 rebounds a game with 1.6 assists, 0.9 steal, and 0.6 block.

Closely behind Aguilar are Alaska’s Chris Banchero (34.2 SPs), the conference leader in assists with 8.7 a game, and NorthPort’s Stanley Pringle (34.0).

Phoenix’s Calvin Abueva rounded up the Top 5 with 31.9 SPs.

Sean Anthony, who led the league in steals with 2.3 a night, came at number six with 31.3 SPs, while Arwind Santos, who averaged a league-high of 1.9 blocks a game this conference, is number 24 with 25.5 SPs. (Ivan Stewart Saldajeno/PNA)
