State prosecutor stabbed to death in Quezon City

MANILA — An assistant prosecutor of the Office of the Ombudsman was stabbed to death in Quezon City on Monday.

Lawyer Madona Joy Ednaco-Tayag was stabbed by still unidentified suspect in front of a lottery outlet along Visayas Avenue in Barangay Vasra, Quezon City at about 11:20 a.m.

Based on a police report, Ednaco-Tayag was immediately rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center by Barangay Kagawad Oliver Pascacio and Segundo Antenor.

Meanwhile, the Ombudsman on Monday promised to “leave no stone unturned” in the investigation in the killing of the assistant prosecutor.

In a statement, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales asked the Philippine National Police to “thoroughly investigate” the death of the prosecutor, ensuring that “the perpetrators are immediately caught.”

The Ombudsman also extended its condolences to the Tayag family. (Perfecto Raymundo, Jr./PNA)
