Statement of Communications Secretary Martin Andanar on the passing of Amb. Eduardo “Danding” Cojuanco, Jr.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mr. Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. who passed away at the age of 85.

Mr. Cojuangco was vital to San Miguel Corporation’s success as a conglomerate and its pursuit of socioeconomic progress for the Philippines through its diversified corporate endeavors.

As Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of SMC, he enabled the company to generate thousands of livelihood and employment opportunities, benefitting thousands of Filipino families.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Cojuangco and SMC have extended assistance not only to the frontline personnel and vulnerable sectors, but also to the government in mitigating the impact of the pandemic.

Mr. Cojuangco’s passing was not only a loss of a patriarch to his loved ones and SMC, but also a loss of a philantrophist to the people and a reliable partner of the government in poverty alleviation and economic development.
